We’ve built giving into our business with B1G1

Why giving is important to us.

Donating to the chosen charities that we care about helps cement the ethos of our business, giving is good! Whether that be free business information, Tax advice, or a charitable donation, we give because we are in a fortunate position to do so, and we know it makes a difference.

Knowing that we are helping others makes us feel fuzzy inside and full of gratitude. Donating to our chosen charities strengthens not just our business values but our personal values too and introduces our children to the importance of generosity and the impact it can have on others.

    Who are B1G1?

In 2007, a group of small-business owners had an idea. They asked, “What would happen if we all gave back just by doing the things we do every day?” It was a question that deeply inspired them.

Three years and a great undertaking later, they were able to design the systems and processes necessary to make it work, and their dream is now a reality. The initiative was originally called ‘Buy1Give1’, backed by the idea that companies would create a specific giving impact with each designated business transaction. Today, the B1G1 initiative brings together more than 2,600 businesses from around the world — each making significant impacts in their own ways.

Today, B1G1 is run by a social enterprise (registered company in Singapore) and non-profit organization (501(c)3 registered in the US) with a mission to create a world that’s full of giving. Unlike conventional giving models, B1G1 specifically helps small- and medium-sized businesses achieve more social impact by embedding giving activities into everyday business operations and creating unique giving stories. Every business transaction can help improve lives for as little as just one cent.

If you’d like to get involved with B1G1 it couldn’t be easier and your pledge can make all the difference.

    Our chosen charities

    Buddy Bag Foundation

This is a new addition to the chosen charities that we will be supporting in 2022

When we onboard a new customer, we give 1 Buddy Bag to a child

Imagine having to leave everything you own and everyone you know. Children fleeing violent situations often have to leave home quickly, without the chance to collect basic items. They arrive in emergency accommodation with just the clothes they are wearing. 1 out of 4 women and 1 out of 6 men are victims of domestic abuse. Frequently children are involved.

A Buddy Bag can restore a sense of comfort and love. It is a backpack for children containing toiletries and underwear but also comfort items such as a teddy bear. It is something they can call their own, no matter where they go.

And choosing EOG as your account means that you are doing your bit too, as we give a buddy bag to a child in need for every new customer that we onboard.

The Mango Tree Orphan Support Trust

When we complete a Tax Return or submit a VAT Return, we plant one forest tree to help restore the environment.

The project area has experienced environmental degradation as people cut trees for charcoal and firewood, harvest sand to sell leaving big sand mines and nacked hills and villages with no trees. This all happens due to extreme poverty. The Mango Tree has focused on reversing this by encouraging the planting of new forest trees, in addition to income-generating fruit trees. This has significantly changed the situation and we do this continuously.

Currently, 60,000 seedlings are being distributed and planted. Another 40,000 pot seedlings have been raised to be ready for planting in August. The four planting strategies we use are: creating Woodlots, Edges/Boundaries, Orchards (including mangoes pawpaws bananas, and various fruit trees), and targeting the swampy/sand mines areas using trees. The four strategies will among other help in the demarcation of their farm boundaries and also in the restoration of the sand mines and rehabilitation of the swampy farms.
