A Q&A with Josh Griffiths

We’ve have had another enthusiastic student from Coleg Meirion Dwyfor at the office on Wednesday afternoons for the last few weeks doing voluntary work experience.

Josh Griffiths from Prenteg has picked up the basic accounting principles really quickly and is extremely keen to learn.

We’re sure Josh will have a good career in the finance industry in years to come!

After his first few weeks in the office, we’ve had a quick Q & A with Josh and here’s what he had to say!

    Q & A:

    What is it you’re studying?

I am currently studying Mathematics (statistics), Design & Technology and History as three separate A-level courses.

    What is your favourite subject?

My favourite subject at the moment is mathematics due to the satisfaction I get from solving problems.

What is it about accountancy that you are interested in?

The main reason I am interested in accountancy is the fact that every company is different and they all face different problems which need solving. Another reason is that it’s a subject which requires a lot of knowledge therefore requires a lot of learning about.

What is the one thing that you have taken from your week working with us at Edwards of Gwynedd?

I have learned a lot about double-entry bookkeeping and the different types of financial reports there are. I have also learned a lot about how to become an accountant and what sort of work the accountants themselves do.

Is accountancy something that you think you will pursue?

At the moment my options are open, but I am definitely concentrating on pursuing a career within the finance industry. After starting my work experience with Edwards of Gwynedd it strengthened my ambition of becoming an accountant and I am currently aiming to become an accountant in the future.

What do you plan to do after college?

I am planning on going to university and studying accounting and finance or business economics as an undergraduate course. I hope to get the opportunity to go on a year in industry but might take a year abroad to study instead.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I either concentrate on studying or I may relax and watch some documentaries.

Which football team do you support?

I am, and always will be a Liverpool fan 🙂

    We know…. another Liverpool fan!
