Here’s where we’re at at the moment!

We thought it was about time that we gave you an update as to where we’re at as a business. It’s amazing to think that we are over two and a half years into the journey.

    Well…

We thought it was about time that we gave you an update as to where we’re at as a business. It’s amazing to think that we are over two and a half years into the journey.

In our first two and a half years we’ve really enjoyed helping all our clients to sustain, grow and diversify, we’ve had some great success stories in our short time in business and can’t wait to see our clients to continue to strive and move forward.

The last few months have also seen us grow as a business and a team too but more about that in a bit!

Today’s business environment is evolving faster than ever and every day we look forward to guiding our clients through this beautiful storm so here’s what we’ve been doing to date…

    Getting people into the cloud…

Alongside providing our day to day tax and accounting services we have been spending a lot of time getting people’s bookkeeping into the cloud (cloud migration) so that they can all benefit from todays technologies. (See our recent blog to find out what these are)

Getting the right inhouse Tax and Accounting Software…

We’ve acquired some new specialist tax and accounting software to ensure that we continue to offer our clients the most up to date, relevant advice. As well as guiding our clients into the world of cloud bookkeeping and business we fully understand that our clients primarily and rightly expect and demand the best in accounting, business and taxation advice… as we are accountants after all! All this new cloud accounting software that our clients have been adopting simply makes our job a bit easier, as all the necessary information is right there at our fingertips.

For example, we have recently finished our mid-year business appraisals with quite a few of our clients; seeing how they’re businesses have performed in the year to date and deciding whether they can save tax in any way prior to the year end (and before it’s too late). Historically, before cloud accounting, this just wouldn’t have been feasible for a lot of our clients as the accountancy fees wouldn’t have been justifiable due to the amount of accounting man hours involved… Now lots of our clients take us up on and benefit from this service.

    Offering ongoing support…

However, things aren’t always straight forward when adopting a new way of working and we are well aware of this and this is why we have been continuously refining our clients bookkeeping skills through offering ongoing support and training, making sure that our clients are making the most out of all the available new and exciting systems.

    New policies…

Recently, with the help of Business Wales, we have also firmly set our company policies in place which include all the security and data protection policies as you would expect but also a quality and diversity policy, ensuring a fair and happy working environment for staff, subcontractors, suppliers and customers. We strongly believe in building a business on solid foundations.

    Improving our Proposal Systems…

To ensure that all our clients know exactly which services they are paying for we have now implemented a system which clearly breaks down each client’s monthly subscription into the different services that we are providing. The feedback we have been getting is great and the ease of the system is amazing for us too. I don’t want to go on about technology….but…

    Growing…

With all this new software available we are using the most up to date systems to not only benefit our clients but also to benefit our business, employees and subcontractors too. Having our data securely stored in the cloud has enabled us to bring on board a qualified AAT (Association of Accounting Technician) to the team. Our newest Edwards of Gwynedd team member Helen is based in the Chester area and works completely remotely for us, we have daily contact via the internet and as you can imagine it’s all seriously exciting for us to have a new member on board!

Did I mention that’s Mrs Edwards is now pretty much full time too! Many of you will have seen a lot more of her in the office during recent months and although she runs her own online business, she still tries to dedicate at least six hours a day to us here at Edwards of Gwynedd and often works remotely from home.

Finally, we now also have a graduate with us one day a week, William has a maths degree and is looking to break into the world of accountancy with the hope of heading to the City to undertake his training. He will hopefully gain some valuable experience with us here and we’re excited to add the foundations to his career path and watch him flourish in the future.

    Business…

As I’m sure you all know running your own business is not always plain sailing and we are no exception! We’ve had long days and nights agonising over new systems and our next steps, keeping on top of the ever-changing tax and accounting legislation, researching the immense amount of technology on offer out there and getting our heads around the new way of thinking in accountancy! But those things aside we are striving everyday to make business exciting and accessible for all, whether that be us helping a new business start-up or helping people to grow, we’ve been there, we’ve done it as a business start-up ourselves (with past experience) and we wear the t-shirt with pride.

    Getting you on board…

So, if you’d like to follow our journey, like and share our page, spread the word and let’s do business.

We post a blog each month which contains free, up to date advice on matters that matter the most in accountancy at any given time… read it! It’s free and relevant, you never know it may have the answers or information you’ve been looking for and could save you time and money.

For those of you who are already clients, thank you so much for your support, we’ve enjoyed watching you grow and prosper and to those of you who don’t know who we are please take a look at our website www.edwardsofgwynedd.com and feel free to get in touch if we can be of any assistance.
